Quick start
- Choose the date of birth.
- Leave the second date empty to use today, or pick a date to find the age on that day, such as an exam or application deadline.
- Read the exact age and the birthday countdown.
How the age is worked out
The calculator counts complete years first, then complete months, then the remaining days. Someone born on 15 May 2000 is 26 years, 5 months and 8 days old on 23 October 2026: 26 full years to 15 May 2026, 5 full months to 15 October, and 8 more days.
When the day count goes negative
If the day of the month on the later date is smaller, one month is borrowed. For example, from 28 January to 3 March is 1 month and 3 or 4 days, depending on how many days February has that year. The calculator handles month lengths and leap years for you.
Leap-year birthdays
People born on 29 February only have a real birthday every four years. In other years this calculator counts the birthday on 28 February, which is the most common convention. Some countries use 1 March for legal purposes.
Where exact age matters
- School admission cut-off dates
- Job, exam and visa applications with age limits
- Retirement and pension dates
- Insurance and medical forms
Common questions
How old am I in days?
Enter your date of birth and read the total days line. Someone who is exactly 30 years old has lived about 10,957 days, depending on leap years.
Can I find my age on a future date?
Yes. Pick that date in the second box, for example the closing date of an application.
Does it count leap years?
Yes. Every calculation uses the real calendar, including 29 February in leap years.
Is my date of birth saved or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
